The newest Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set went on sale Tuesday, December 11, 2012 for $9.95.
Featured within the set is an uncirculated quality dollar depicting Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd President of the United States, and a bronze medal bearing a portrait of his wife, Caroline Harrison.
As shown on the image above, the U.S. Mint mounted the $1 coin and bronze medal on an illustrated plastic card containing signatures and portraits of the former President and First Lady. Displayed on the back of the card is the issuance information about the coin and bronze medal.
Sporting a different finish than found within the set, circulating quality Benjamin Harrison $1’s were released several months back, on August 16, 2012. The U.S. Mint continues to offer these coins in roll, bag and box products. The set’s 1 5/16 inch bronze medal has the same designs that are found on 24-karat Caroline Harrison First Spouse Gold Coins. Those debuted last week, on December 7, 2012. First spouse medals were once sold separately, but that has not happened this year.
Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets have been listed at different prices since they first debuted. Those in 2010 are $11.95. Prices went up to $14.95 in 2011. Each of these older sets remains available at the U.S. Mint’s online store. The latest available sales figures for all sets still on sale are listed below.
