January sales of Australian bullion was "solid," according to The Perth Mint of Australia, although divided when compared to December with sales stronger for gold products and weaker for silver products. Both types were down from the same month a year earlier.
The Mint’s bullion gains set against divided precious metals with LBMA prices (USD) in January jumping 6.2% for gold while dropping 4% for silver.
Bullion Sales in January 2023
Perth Mint January sales of minted gold coins and bars combined to 64,395 ounces, advancing 6.2% from the prior month but sliding 3.5% from January of last year.
General Manager Minted Products, Neil Vance said the latest monthly sales data took account of January’s quieter trading conditions, including what for many Australians is their main summer vacation. "Nevertheless, our sales got off to a solid start, laying the foundation for what will hopefully be a strong second half to the financial year," he said. (The Mint’s 2023 fiscal year started July 1, 2022.)
January sales of the Mint’s silver coins and bars totaled 1,233,344 ounces, logging declines of 24.6% from December and 48.3% from January 2022.

My guess is October sales adjusting due to speculation over election results in America. I wonder what the metals sales are on 3rd party sales and how many actually end up in vaults or inside mountains
I can’t ever stop finding this whole process so humorously ironic. First we go to all the expense and effort of digging each of these precious metals out of the ground. Then we put more expense and effort into refining, shaping, minting, selling and delivering them. So what does the ultimate customer do with the finished product once it comes into his legal possession? He puts it back into the ground in vaults or caves.
Or. Could coincide with queens death. Or maybe both, or maybe neither. Could also be that celebration in India where they put gold foil on a statue. And it’s gotten huge over the years. Just speculation, like all the other experts. Not sure the surge for March.

I understand. When I want high level intellectual conversation I find it best to engage myself versus myself. 23 or 27 schools in Baltimore stated not a single student in those schools could pass math proficiency. It melts my heart that they are such tik tock aficionados and experts that they weren’t subjected to wasting their time learning life’s fundamentals. I completely agree, Dazed and Coinfused, and that is why what bothers, worries and scares me the most regarding the apparent absence of any basic level of learning and understanding among far too large a part of the American population is not that simple lack of knowledge but how they ended up in this predicament by having no inclination to want to learn anything in the first place.
In regard to your statement about the Baltimore schools’ students demonstrating exceedingly low math proficiency levels, I don’t know, Dazed and Coinfused, if I can go you one better but I think I can at least come close. When college sophomores at some highly regarded American universities were tested for the proficiency of their literary skills many of them demonstrated no more than a tenth grade (high school) reading and writing ability.
