This is the last year to buy Presidential $1 Coins and related products, the United States Mint announced in a brochure that was snail-mailed to customers this month.
Coins honoring former U.S. presidents and their spouses debuted in 2007 as directed by Public Law 109-145. The series ran for 10 years, ending in 2016 with the last pieces celebrating Ronald and Nancy Reagan.
Many Presidential dollar products — from the very early years to the later ones — are still for sale. They include:
- Presidential $1 Coin Covers,
- Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets, and
- First Spouse Medals.
Only more recent year issues are available in other U.S. Mint product lines, like:
- First Spouse Gold Coins,
- Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Sets,
- Presidential $1 Coin Circulating Sets, and
- Rolls, bags, and boxes of Presidential dollars.
In addition, the 2016 Ronald Reagan Coin & Chronicles Set is still for sale (see photos of the set) as is the 2013 Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Discovery Set.
