CCAC to Review 2023 American Women Quarter and Native American $1 Coin Designs

48

CCAC meeting for April 19, 2022The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a meeting by teleconference on April 19 to review and discuss candidate designs for all five 2023 American Women quarter dollars and the 2023 Native American $1 Coin.

The CCAC is tasked with advising the Secretary of the Treasury on themes and designs pertaining to all United States coins and medals.

Authorized under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, Public Law 116-330, the U.S. Mint’s four-year series of American Women Quarters™ honors women who shaped American history. The series was introduced this year. Second-year coins — those for 2023 — will feature reverse (tails side) designs depicting Bessie Coleman, Jovita Idár, Edith Kanaka’ole, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Maria Tallchief, the Mint recently announced.

Introduced in 2009 and authorized under Public Law 110-82, the U.S. Mint’s Native American $1 Coin Program offers annually changing reverses that celebrate the important contributions made by Indian tribes and individual Native Americans to the history and development of the United States. In 2018, the Mint announced that the 2023 Native American $1 Coin will honor Charles Alexander Eastman.

CCAC Meeting Time and Public Listening Option

The CCAC meeting on the 19th will begin at 9:00 a.m. and it is scheduled to last until 3:00 p.m. (EDT).

Members of the public may dial in to listen to the meeting at (888) 330-1716 and using access code: 1137147.

For members of the public, this teleconference meeting is for "listen purposes only" — no comments or questions will be taken, and phones must be muted. Instead, those interested in offering matters for the CCAC’s consideration are invited to submit them by email to info@ccac.gov.

Occasionally in the madness of coin collecting we all drift into the fog coin drudgery and inevitably begin talking to ourselves – but don’t panic it’s all good – just let out a Rebel Yell and ease the pain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdphvuyaV_I

Sir Kaiser, we have admittedly advanced significantly since Antonio, introduced the Cone of Silence – I only wish I had thought of it myself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoRYBuxCHf0

Wonder if one of the 2023 women’s quarters design will have one being a hipster climbing a mountain or hanging with her dog? 😉

Have a happy Easter folks. Hop on down the bunny trail with Peter Cottontail 🙂

Caffeine Mike Mezack is selling Advanced Release 2022 PR70 W ASEs for just a mere $299. Now, he only has 1485 in this grade(at least in ANACS) so get them before they go. I see the Maya Angelou MS66 slabbed P,D,and S quarters are now selling for $129.95. Down from $159.95. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that someone would pay that for 3 clad quarters.

Senza,

As they say, “only in America!” You would literally have to put a loaded gun to my head before I’d pay $600 for a clad quarter. Oh, and Mike ‘Buy it Now’ Mezack stated that the U.S. Strategic Silver Reserve is completely out of silver. If he’s telling the truth (I truly can’t believe I just typed that) then why hasn’t the price of silver soared.

SENZA

Silver is soaring exactly the way the US Mint, Graders and Dealers want it to soar – I think our creator put a “Sucker” gene in all of us; I was just fortunate enough to hit my head enough times to jar that gene loose 🙁 probably why I sat out the ASE unlimited party.

Sir Kaiser – while doing the math – I find that the US Mint price is almost exactly triple what our price is – now that’s what I’m talking about……….Whatchu Talkin Bout

This one time I had to call HSN about a Cell Phone I purchased and I asked the Rep what was wrong with their coin guy and she said Who?

I replied, you know Caffeine Mike, the guy who runs around the studio screaming and charging 500% markups on coins; the phone went silent for about 10 seconds then she said Oh and then the laughter started and it took her a long time to stop laughing.

Kaiser, A ‘M-80?’ Man, that brings back some good memories of fun in my childhood years. I still remember the time my parents found several M-80’s in my school backpack that I was planning to sell to my schoolmates at St. Johns Elementary. That didn’t turn out they way I’d planned. Today, I’d probably be considered a domestic terrorist if caught with M-80’s in school. We used to place cans over the M-80 and watch as it turned the can inside out. We never put them up someones ask and fortunately never lost any fingers. You do have to treat… Read more »

There’s a sucker born every minute. That’s what I get from ALL the extended car warranty calls I get, and I have an extended warranty and my car is only two years old. I guess there are people who fall for that scam.

SENZA

Yo mean you didn’t buy the extended protection at point of sale

SENZA

Actually , having been in that industry and purchased many new Auto’s in my younger years and knowing a sales-girl intimately – I can share a secret with you; there is no fixed price on the extended warranty. So, a general salesperson will try to get $600 out of you and a Veteran scammer will try to get as much as $5400.00 for that extended warranty – the trick is you say “I’ll take the extended warranty for $200 or the extended warranty and Disability for $400 (which is actually a good deal) and ask for a free scotch guard… Read more »

Take care, Major D.
Thanks for bringing your towel and staying for a while.

SENZA

Major D, don’t jump off that bridge just yet; your in the coin twilight zone and you passed thru door #1 FOMO, so you failed to resist and pulled the trigger and now coins you never wanted and actually hate are on their way to your home – this can be frightening and lead to door #2 Buyers Remorse, although this stage is like something out of the exorcist you just have to get a grip and remember when that garbage shows up on your doorstep you can just tell the UPS driver you don’t want them and he will… Read more »
