Received the 3 rolls of quarters today. trying to keep ahead of the Kaiser!
Congratulations, Tom, on getting your AWQ 3 Roll Set, and in such a timely manner! Regarding part two of your comment, no need for concern as to where you are situated in the acquisition queue as compared to yours truly His Imaginary Highness since I’ve retired from collecting rolls as of this year, with the possible exception of those JFK Half Dollars that I still like so very much. As to my reason for bailing out of the collecting of rolls of US Mint coinage, it’s all about the $$$.
As the saying goes, it takes $$$ to make $$$.
Which, I of course agree, Major D, would make perfectly good sense if I had been buying them to sell them, which I wasn’t. Besides, to everything there is a season, and these rolls and some other Mint items have reached their autumn…or possibly even their winter, for that matter. 😉
as predicted – current 3 roll sets selling for around $75 (plus $10 shipping) on the bidding. I don’t think those that are asking are getting the $100 – $120 or more that they want. definitely a glut. about 190 3 roll sets being offered on EBAY I see the next issue in the 3 roll set gets ‘sold out’ and then suddenly 3 rolls available and then sell out again.
That’s a bit of a surprise. I thought the flippers were still getting well over $100 per 3 Roll Set but I guess those glory days are over.
Got mine today. Think I’ll keep them in the box.
Which naturally is the smartest way to keep them if there is any thought of selling them somewhere down the line, Major D.
On the other hand, I myself wouldn’t be able to resist opening the boxes to look at what I’ve received, so I’m clearly a hopeless case when it comes to trying to preserve these coin rolls in their most pristine condition.
Kaiser — When I did order rolls (not anymore) I was always fascinated by the % of times obverse and reverse ones did not appear on each roll. While I do understand why, the odds seemed to indicate that the bored Mint worker that was packaging them was just trying to get even with us collectors. Btw, I seem to recall that was before they even started putting the date and year on the outsides of the wrappers. But the best one of all was HSN’s Miserable Mike who used to pitch a totally plain brown box claiming it had… Read more »
Mike, I know it’s not Texas Tea/Sweet Crude, however is that box of “gold” you found in the garage, perhaps “Black”? Asking for a friend? LOL
Cali —
Methinks you have been in my garage …. Just sayin’.
Thanks for the smile you put on my face — Mike
Mike,
I’m pretty sure the Mint has put out an advisory to the effect that there is no guarantee as to which side of the coin is going to be showing at the end of any given roll due to fact that all the packaging is being done by machines. I guess machines can be stupid.
Kaise Wilhelm, out of curiosity, did you manage to pick up any of your recent Kennedy at the bank? For instance, 2018, or 2020-2022?
So much for NIFC.
I must live in a “dry” area, Caliskier, when it comes to getting rolls of anything when it comes to my local neighborhood banks. Whenever I have gone to any of them to see what they have on hand the answer I receive seems to be a very consistent “Nothing.”
At least you didn’t mention what most and myself typically experience! We get the consistent no, in addition to, this as well! You’d think that the teller had just ingested a “bitterly” cold, frosty, tall one? With what I’ve read and watched, apparently if a collector; numismatist, accumulator, hoarder, wants rolls, they have to be willing to go to multiple banks in your quest. Another suggestion I’ve heard is to have or open a business account: I’m not sure what’s required for that? That leads me to another suggestion. Perhaps if none of the above are applicable, one might have… Read more »
I appreciate all the pertinent thoughts and the helpful suggestions regarding the issue of the unavailability of coin rolls at local banks, Caliskier, and I love the expression on the bank teller’s face above. I’m guessing that was because you just happened to catch him on a good day! But when you make the mistake of going back and asking one too many times…

Mike Unser is always right on the ball when we point something like that out to him!
No doubt that the sales for the 2022 American Liberty medal, 2022 Silver Proof set, and 2022 Ltd Ed Silver Proof set all occurred before the price increase. I’ll wager that these products will not make the Top 10 again.
No one will take that bet, Major D, since your prognostication is undoubtedly correct.
I just read former president Carter is now in hospice (age 98). So I guess that means there will most likely be a new presidential dollar coin within a year or 2. Best wishes to him.
Tom, I’ve always felt that Carter was unfairly regarded as president. He took a lot of heat for things that were out of his control e.g. the oil crisis, inflation and Iran. He ordered the secret military mission to free the hostages immediately after they were taken– and the failure of that mission was on the military but as commander-in-chief he accepted all of the blame. Had it gone right I believe he would have been easily reelected.
Major D,
Suffice it for me in that regard to say Hear Hear!
Thanks guys for all the “takes” and views on President Carter. He served, while I was between the ages of 8 & 12 y/o. So I was too distracted by my youth, baseball and what seemed like “Endless Summers”. I grew up inland so my “Endless Summers” were filled with excessive heat and dust, versus what many envision as an “Endless Summer”? Bikini’s and “tasty” waves! Haha Then came “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and D.A.R.E/Nancy Reagan era….Dang, then there was “Animal House” (1978) Impressionable years. Hmmm which type of influences at that time and age were of greater influence… Read more »
