The United States Mint announced prices and the type of finishes for their 2023-dated Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars. One of the five announced products is a pairing of both coins in a reverse proof set.
The information was revealed in a document published June 29 on the Federal Register, the official source of notices by government agencies and a daily journal of their proceedings.
In addition to reverse proof, collector finishes for the 2023 silver dollars include regular proof and uncirculated.
U.S. Mint announced product options and prices for the coins follow.

Centennial renditions of the historic Morgan and Peace dollars launched in 2021. The U.S. Mint had plans to release proof editions for 2022 but those were canceled due to their limited supply of silver blanks.
The coins minted in 2021 are in uncirculated finish and sold for $85 apiece. Options included Morgan dollars produced at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints and a Peace dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
First on thread! Way to go Major D! \O/
Let’s kick this up a notch
This movie is on TV right now!!
I’ll look forward to them. Looks like this is going to be a yearly issue. Too bad they weren’t able to make it for 2022.
My suspicious mind agrees
Like the five 1913 Liberty nickels.
Ventris the despicable said she would try to release them in 2022 when she was being considered for the official position but now she has the position th story has once again changed. She was urged by a panel of Special Interest Groups hmmm they couldn’t just say BlackRock and NGC!
These prices are extraordinarily low too (for the US Mint ) – is this the Mint pricing coming down or is this a bigger picture scenario – is the Mint telling us Silver is going lower?
Senza,
Maybe they’re factoring in where our economy will be by the time these coins are released. Biden has done such a ‘beautiful’ job on our economy and we might already be in a technical recession with two successive quarters of negative GDP. If Biden stays relatively healthy, we might go into a depression by 2023, so how much do you think silver will be at that point. But I’m trying to remain positive so I’ll say I can’t wait to be able to buy these coins, especially the Reverse Proof Set.
Agreed on all points –
I just seen this image on the good old Internet and I swear about 2 weeks ago we were watching the Fake Newz and seen Biden dancing around and he even had his eyes open – the first thought I had was “they juiced him up with something”
Now Biden is going to give the dead CEO of Apple the Presidential Medal of Freedom during LGBTQ month – if there is so much pride there how come Jobs would never admit what he was and that it killed him- rhetorical.
Biden is Cancer on America
I just hate all of them
LMAO I said I hate them all I thought that gave me a free pass but I will take the blame here – I won’t play the trump card.
.
.
Your sources of history on Trump are pure fiction. I call this intellectual laziness to do your own research and not rely on other’s who relish in “group think”; that’s socialism!
Better take the Joey B Misery Index Quiz. How much was a tank of gas yesterday? How much was a tank of gas from 2017 to 2020? How much was a Quarter pounder meal at McDonalds in 2017? How about today? Box of rice krispies in 2017? Today? Heating oil in 2017? Today? (hint, I just paid $5.09 a gallon, 2x 18 months ago) Soooooo, who is in the alt universe Major D??
I’m not good with heights so I think I would have made the same choice –
Think I used this one before but it’s a good one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cab_XlnJZjc
We have to harvest the most Intelligent
Amen.
It simply would not be the US Mint if they didn’t find a way to make it difficult for us……………..
Remember when we used to like them dumb – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2fWTnqDDuo
I’m not married I can tell the truth lol
As a Father’s Rights Activist I always wondered why a poor guy would go back for more punishment but perhaps your the anomaly that gives credence to the practice –
Congrats on getting it right the 2nd time around even though you probably didn’t do anything wrong the first time…….
Biden has done a wonderful job, if you can not afford one do not buy it. so let us just talk coins.
.
All 5 issues can be set up as an enrollment with a HHL of 3. I just signed up for the enrollments this morning. Not worry or Bots for me.
How do you sign up for enrollments for 2023 issues
Hello Richard J Margolis,
Go to shop, go to coins, go to 2021 Morgan and Peace silver dollars. There you will see all of them and can add enrollments for the 2023s to your bag. Then check out. There may be other ways , but that is the way I discovered when I tried to figure out how to enroll for these.
I tried and it worked, got confirmation and order numbers. Hopefully they will find enough silver to mint these coins
SENZA, these prices are the same and consistent with the current prices for the 2022 Uncirculated ASE (price = $67) and Proof ASE (price = $73), and the American Eagle 2021 One Ounce Silver Reverse Proof Two-Coin Set Designer Edition (price = $175). In comparing the prices for these 2023 Morgan/Peace Silver Dollars with the 2021 Dollars, it’s not so much that the 2023 prices are low, but rather the 2021 prices were too high. The 2021 Morgan/Peace Dollars all had an Uncirculated finish and contained 0.858 troy ounce silver for $85. The 2023 Morgan/Peace Dollars will also contain 0.858… Read more »
Thanks Rich,
It’s always confusing until your numbers shine light on the facts
Shine On, Bro!
Kind of looks like a doughnut.
Yeah, politically correct doughnut
Well, it’s a politically correct supernova. I had to find ones that matched.
Really
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback, Sir Kaiser, it’s my pleasure to contribute what I can to this fine coin news forum.
Hi Rich,
I think you should be writing articles for this site, you are that informative. Only if you want to, of course. By the way, Rich. I did finish looking up those 6 previous directors a week or two ago. I actually remember the original article title so I should be able to find it to post what I found. I will make an effort this week to post about it.
Enrollment solved so many headaches…both for us and im sure them.
Last year U.S. Mint spokesman Mike White said the Mint was considering including the 2022 Morgan and Peace Proof Silver Dollars under the Enrollment Program, along with touting its success at “Blocking the Bots.” As CoinWeek reported last September, “before the changes to the Mint site to block scripts (bots), 60% of the online traffic was from users using such techniques to get around ordering restrictions. The Mint recently obtained authorization to block bots, though it is unclear if the Mint has the legal authority to block all bots. The (recent) release of the 2021-W Proof Silver Eagle was the… Read more »
BLOCK ALL BOTS!
BOT I KINDA LIKE THIS ONE
Just to clarify.
Wouldn’t you be, after the mint asking if you’re a robot?
The first thought I had was will these be available for enrollment however, enrollment has not been good to me this year – The US Mint of Ventris, has reduced my American Women Quarters on the last 2 issues and the night before release without any warning. And of course the fake sell outs on the Vermont American Innovation not to mention shipping half of my order late – If the US Mint prints a shipping label within 14 business days they consider that “on-time” shipping and if they take longer they consider that unfortunate for the recipient but it’s… Read more »
SENZA — I too relate to the enrollment problems you have experienced. But if you expand your enjoyment of coin collecting to include the thrill of engaging in the “food fight” of ordering at 9AM Eastern Time on the days these beauties become available, you can have the best of both worlds. For me that mostly meant getting multiples of the 175,000-production coins AND the ability to high grade and return the ones I didn’t want or even selling them on eBay. But since you know I have never sold a coin in my 7 decade existence, I just ended… Read more »
Mike, I think you hit a home run – as I believe in the end the winner won’t be the one with the most toyz or coins but the one who shared the joy with others. Honestly, I’m not surprised with any of the hiccups I experienced with enrollments except for one in particular that makes me question the existence and meaning of enrollments – that is when I contacted the US Mint and asked why they couldn’t just tell us in advance there would be a limit on enrollment purchases and the Representative said “As a Federal Agency we… Read more »
Ditto, SENZA Rocks!
Kaiser, Mike, Rich and Major D,
All comments appreciated Happy 4th https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CoXsBfV160
Cheers, SENZA, and Happy 4th of July to you!
Keep on Rockin…
Where’s Antonio
Sounds like Where’s Waldo?
Silver spot is now $19.855 so guess that’s helping with pricings.
Wonder what mintage may be? If higher than 2021 series may also figure into 2023 price \o/
Kaiser,
Cost of silver was one of the reasons Mint stated they were raising prices on silver coins and silver medals couple years back.
Then again, who knows? Still believe Mint raised prices to:
1. Be comparable to other world mints, and
2. Bring in more funds to Mint.
Silver lost a key price support area. A favorite technical analyst of mine puts a $13 an ounce or so target on the precious metal ahead. Meantime, I notice that the bullion outfits are still up to $14-15 over spot on AE (BU) coins – very slow to lower sales prices.
The Mint always gets the price the Mint wants or they don’t buy the silver –
after much investigating I presented that evidence in a previous post –
THERE NEVER WAS, CURRENTLY IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE A SHORTAGE OF SILVER.

I wonder what the product limit for these new coins will be.

I have acc. Morgan silver dollar dated 1889 proof like how much is it worth
I have no idea what you just said – I thought i was the only soul who had a proof-like Morgan Silver Dollar – please post a photo
Puzzling… what is the condition/grade, is it graded/ungraded? For the 1889-CC PL Morgan Dollar, PCGS population report has a total population = 102: MSPL60-62 population = 56, MS-63 population = 34 and MS-64 population = 8. PCGS Price Guide prices are MSPL-63 = $57,500, MSPL-64 = $125,000 and MSPL-65 = $425,000. Just saying…
Mine is an 1898-P Graded MS-67
Holy Diver!
There is an indicator that few know about for identifying Proof and proof like Morgans – it’s a skull – can you find the skull in this image
Images are highly magnified and appear flawless to the naked eye
.
Thanks for sharing those beautiful images, SENZA. As Sir Kaiser said
Last years Morgans and Peace were fantastic. The 2022 proofs were highly anticipated before being cancelled. Looking forward to next year though.
I love the peace dollar I take it out of my safe and stare at it frequently as well as the letter the US Mint sent me years ago asking me what products I would like to see in the future and my response which was “scrap the ASE it’s boring and bring back the Morgan and Peace Silver dollars.” I feel like I’m a part of coin history now……….
That’s awesome. Cartwheels are my favorite followed by the Peace. Smart move saving the letter.
Hey Rooster,
I have a small problem with throwing things away – I know my safe is around here someplace
This is great. Funny but so true.
I remember the time I threw out a garbage bag full of old concert t-shirts and a few weeks later I found one I over-looked; decided to throw it on Feebay and see what might happen –
A collector paid $800.00 for it – there were easily 60 or 70 of these shirts in the bag I put out for the garbage weeks earlier.
Not only a case of shit happening but a case of having too much shit
Right On
I might need it one day.
I still don’t know and apparently I said it
Thank You Very Much
Probably goes good with a salad
I have no doubt, the Mint will find a way to screw this release up. Numismatic Authorized Bulk Dealers, on the other hand, will be fine.
No your speaking my language
It’s because I can’t spell half the time
General question: I returned two difference orders back to US Mint a month ago have not received money back into my account.Called customer service that was a joke, they are still working from home and that was a waste of time.
Lonnie — Sorry for this background on your question. But I wanted to put into perspective how inept the Mint is on such things. Some reading this may remember that I got a bad ASE about 3+ months ago (it literally only had one side of the air tite plastic). It fell out into my bare hand and became the first Silver Proof I had ever touched in my nearly 70 years of coin collecting. Fortunately I had ordered another one … so I returned this one along with a detailed letter why. But after waiting patiently for over a… Read more »
You dodged another bullet too – if you had ordered other US Mint products in that same order I think they require us to return the whole order not just the damaged item.
SENZA —
Are you sure you aren’t older than I think you are? You just reminded me to NEVER ever say “how bad could it be?” Because if you do, you will soon find out!
I think I am going to get some seat belts for my desk chair …..
— Mike
You can never be too prepared – a lot of people forget how important the seatbelts are and think they can get by on tin foil alone
I nominate your wife as official spokesperson for all of us US Mint victims – Truly Genius = “why bother”
I was at a job fair the other day and they told me to fill out my own name card – I obviously don’t deserve it and am forwarding it to you for your wife
I couldn’t resist
Do you know what you’ve done now –
Damn Deez Nuts really do matter
I know what you mean Kaiser, I had to scroll up to understand the context of Deez.
ouch
As Rich once said this one is an enigma
Last time I called them I could hear babies crying in the background and the B hung up on me. I think that if you have one defective item in your order you have to return the whole order – also don’t wait for them to call you – always get a tracking number and hold on to it and if your budget will allow require them to sign for it when it arrives to them,
OOPS MY BAD sometimes I just https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fHxFS9PiYM
Was I correct about having to return the whole order because I was not 100% certain but I know I read it somewhere?
You are sort of right, SENZA. If the defective coin is part of a set, e.g., one of the coins in a set like the 5-coin 2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Set, then you have to return the complete set and not just the one bad coin. However, if your entire order contains more than one (item number) product and one product is defective you only return that product and not the others, e.g., the order consists of the 2022 Negro Baseball Leagues 2-coin medal set, the Proof Privy Silver Dollar and the $5 Gold Uncirculated coin, and… Read more »

Everytime I see Mike Myers I think of, Do you have any Grey Poupon?
Totally
Has anyone been billed for or heard any news on the Colorized Purple Heart? The Marines Silver Medal could hit on the same day which is not good for my budget
Thanks for the heads up, SENZA. The Colorized Purple Heart expected shipping/billing date is July 14 and the U.S. Marine Corps 2.5 Ounce Silver Medalrelease date is July 15.
Damn it Man……………………
Damnit! I’m a numismatist not a bank.
.
I thought he said “This is going to go well with Toasted Almonds” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pbVxyL-OeM
Don’t hold you breath for colorized purple heart ship date of July 14.
The original ship date for the non-colorized version was June 8, but later was changed to June 29, and currently is changed to July 13.
If the non-colorized version has been delayed, it is likely that the colorized version will be delayed.
Ventris, is really pissing me off
Nope. Nor for the silver proof commemorative or the proof and clad half Purple Heart dollars.
It’s all in the details – thanks for the clarification
What’s this about again? I’ve forgotten the topic of the article, I enjoy the comments too much. 🙂
It’s all falling apart around us and apparently by design – don’t take it personal – take it very personal
Must have gone out and bought the silver already to avoid last year’s supply problems…
They bent the miners over the brimstone and said take our pennies on the dollar or take a hike and the miners gave in
I think ive decided to order just the morgans next year and stop everything else. None of the proof sets, commemoratives or unc sets….are worth the cost….even the ASE im pretty much over n done with.
I might grab an ASE (S) if they don’t add 5 Billion the day before they go on sale – Ventris is really pissing me off
You can always buy silver bullion from dealers at a lower price than the mint is charging. I’ve done that in the past.
How much is a 1900 Morgan silver dollar worth now. Mines is in good condition
In Good condition (desig 6) it’s worth about $36 and in Very Good condition (desig 12) it’s worth about $38.
Photo Please……………………………………………………………………..
Welp, Mint sent enrollment notice that the 2023 Morgan & Peace Silver Dollars as well as the two coin reverse proof set are available. Signed up for all of them already. Also, SF ASE enrollment available so jumped on that too. Do you need to re-enroll every year for ASE enrollments? I signed up already for ASE W proof. ASE W and ASE W Uncirculated enrollments are also there. Looks like a pre-sales bonanza at Mint today. Lastly, re-signed up for the upteenth time for the 2021 reverse proof two coin set – hope I get a notice to purchase… Read more »
Chris: You don’t have to re-enroll. Surprised that they are doing a reverse proof of the Morgan and Peace.
Thank you Rooster. Thought it was the case not to re-enroll but wanted to double-check w/the crowd here.
Yes, interesting about the two-coin reverse proof set. Guess Mint wants to make sure they use all their .85 troy oz. silver planchets for next year’s Morgan & Peace silver dollars?
I have extra 2 coin sets (somehow the mint got those right – mine are perfect) I sell them for $499.00 all day everyday
Nice markup SENZA and pleased folks are paying that much for them for you.
I’ll find them in a pawn shop or local dealer soon at a lower price.
Signed up!
Great! Glad I made a post about the enrollments so folks who didn’t know about it could jump aboard.
Thanks for the information, Chris Terp. Because I saw your post , I signed up for the Peace and Morgan proofs, and the reverse proof set. I probably would not have found out about the enrollments until it was too late if I had not seen your post. I am seriously thinking of dropping my ASE proof enrollments and just collecting Morgan and Peace proofs instead. I will probably wait a year or two to make sure the mint is serious about producing Morgan and Peace proofs every year.
Glad I helped you Jeff 🙂
enrolled! Thanx for heads up
You’re welcome Domenic 🙂
If you signed up for the Morgan and Peace Enrollments and then accessed the “Enrollments” section of your US Mint account you may learn that you can’t see or modify any of your Enrollments.
This has affected thousands of US Mint customers and if not fixed soon could become very costly as many reserve multiple product via enrollments and trim those numbers down closer to release dates
US Mint Customer Service is unavailable = IS ANYONE SURPRISED
VENTRIS GIBSON = BIG FAIL
Seeing the same thing here too.
Damn it man this is just wrong-
Long time no see
Same for me. Prior to new Morgan/Peace enrollments, I could see my prior enrollments. After new Morgan/Peace enrollments, entire page is blank: does not show old or new enrollments. I am hoping that this is a temporary thing.
Has anyone experienced this in the past?
Is it temporary?
One of the Youtube coin bloggers told me he got thru to Mint customer service and they told him not to worry they are fixing it and our Morgan and Peace enrollments won’t get lost
That does not make me feel any better –
This ride is out of control down with Ventris
You can sign up for enrollments now!
Sunday afternoon and I still can’t access my US Mint enrollments page
The results for Ventris Gibson are in:
A fix was made. “My Product Enrollments” page now has all of my enrollments properly listed as of Monday July 11, 2022 at 11 AM eastern time. I had placed new Morgan/Peace enrollments on Sat July 8. Shortly after that, all the old enrollments disappeared from “My Product Enrollments” and new Morgan/Peace enrollments were missing also. I had noted this on the US Mint’s FaceBook page, and I was notified that this should all be fixed by comment on Monday morning … I think for everybody and not just me. I just checked (Monday 11AM), and all of my old… Read more »
Congrats Paul, all appears well with mine too – I’m surprised all products are still available – I don’t use Facebook so your info sharing is much appreciated.
Mint is getting ready to clean out the storage space to make room for all the new silver planchettes for the Morgan and peace dollar issues.
They already made money on there..plachets..that they didn’t use for..2022 yr..morgan’s..& peace dollar’s..& don’t have to “spike up there price…right away.
Great! I hope they don’t roll off the presses looking like cleaned coins next year, but maybe they found a place with planchets worth a hoot. Given that this is .999 fine, though, they just don’t have as much room to run as they did with those older, much tougher Sterling coins. I was surprised they didn’t use West Point to shadow-mint Carson stamps, with it being the top of the game “modern CC” mint and all and I am surprised Denver isn’t participating in something so popular that the literally lackluster 2021’s are STILL double or more their recommended… Read more »
What is the difference between “NL” and “23XS”? And which set is more desirable, the 2023 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Reverse Proof Uncirculated San Francisco Set NL or the 2023 Morgan and the2023 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Reverse Proof Uncirculated San Francisco Set 23 XS, both from United States Mint?
