The United States Mint last week started selling the 2022 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set and rolls and bags of uncirculated 2022 Anna May Wong quarters. The set led all sales. The quarters were also among the top sellers.
Released Oct. 25, the Anna May Wong quarter is the fifth coin from the U.S. Mint’s four-year series of American Women quarter dollars. Subscriptions claimed most of the quarters before they officially launched, and none of the product options are available as of this writing.
Across the roll and bag products, Mint figures show a combined 1,740,120 Anna May Wong quarters sold. For some comparisons:
- Nina Otero-Warren quarter opened with sales of 1,720,160, now at 1,728,300
- Wilma Mankiller quarter debuted with sales of 1,738,440, now at 1,748,420,
- Dr. Sally Ride quarters started with sales of 1,755,480, now at 1,734,440, and
- Maya Angelou quarters opened with sales of 1,753,280, now at 1,750,680.
Released Oct. 26, the limited-edition Silver Proof Set scored five-day sales of 30,345, representing 60.7% of the possible 50,000 sets.
Last year’s set sold out in about 9 hours as it held both the classic (Type 1) and new (Type 2) designs of the American Silver Eagle, making it more of a unique offering.

What doesn’t show under sales: Subscription items:
of the 5000 additional 3 roll quarter sets for 2023, just over 3000 have been sold, so less than 2000 remain.
Innovation dollars for 2023 – All Denver mint items are sold, Philadelphia only 325 100 coin bag and 472 25 coin roll remain.
Tom,
I’m a bit confused as to whether you are talking about all of next year’s AWQ 3 Roll Sets as well as all of next year’s Innovation Dollars or in both of these cases just referring to the initial offerings of 2023 for each of them. Could you please clarify this?
I’m talking 2023. I think it goes beyond initial offering. for instance, let’s say the 3 roll women’s quarter set.
12620 are offered. if 12500 are already ‘subscribed’, that continues the whole year for each issue. you don’t resubscribe for every new release. so if someone doesn’t cancel their subscription no one else can’t get one except for the mad scramble the day of issue for the millisecond they are available. then one can gripe he didn’t get a chance, because it is more fun to complain than subscribe. or at least that is how I understand thing operate.
O.M.G. Soooooo guess what shows up in mail today….. The “O” and “CC” Morgans from LAST YEAR that were stuck in “shipped” but never left transit hub, presumed lost, and refunded!
And you have them for “free”. Figure, government for you.
Mind Boggling!
Congratulations, that is great news, especially for those two.
Congrats, Domenic. If you count the refund from the Mint and add in the two different mint mark Morgan Dollars then you have in fact just won the trifecta!
Compensation for intentional infliction of emotional distress. Congrats.
A rare instance of having your cake and eating it too. Who said it couldn’t be done?
Ha ha ha – FTW! Glad you got them 🙂
Jealous you got a CC as mine was taking out of my cart while trying to purchase it 30 times while Mint’s website crashed constantly during that sale.
The Mint’s universally infamous and ubiquitously aggravating “right out of the cart at the very last second grab”, experienced by all too many and not that long ago.
Wow was I wrong on the limited edition silver set. I thought it would sell out after the HOL was removed, it’s still available.
There’s just not enough there, Allan, to make it desirable enough to pay the premium.
As i’ve said….there is nothing special about the set other than packaging. The ONLY reason to buy at this point is for the singular ASE which is unavailable on its own. Add to that, the set really is overpriced. Packaging does not make it limited or truly special if the coins are still available elsewhere.
As near as I have been able to ascertain with regard to the Mint’s annual Limited Edition Silver Proof Set, Domenic Vaiasicca, the one and only thing that is in any way “limited” about this particular product is the number that are produced every year, which is capped at 50,000. This year, ironically enough, it seems to be the case that due to lack of customer interest it might be somewhat difficult for the Mint to even sell all of those.
S will be ok in price as they seem only available in 3 roll set. Unless part of the other almost 2 million bag coins. Seems the 1st this type of American and that type of American coins are doing OK. Only 300 bucks on eBay. Ridiculous. No idea what the deal is on the 23 ase. Never knew there was a window to join. But it never was about collectors, the importance lies in flippers, wholesalers, and bulk getting every coin they request and cheaper than the collector can obtain them. They take all the risk. The onus on… Read more »
Yes, it is the only way to get the S quarter. thanks to the increase in roll availability they’ve gone from 300,000 total to 500,000. Now maybe next year if someone didn’t subscribe and simply wants 1 coin it won’t cost $6 or whatever on E-Bay
The big dealers, buying clubs, wholesalers, bulk buyers and other assorted flippers end up taking no financial risk at all regarding the products they choose to purchase from the Mint. Whatever any of those reseller entities can’t dump onto the “left out in the cold on Mint Release Day” suckers like us goes right back to the Mint for a full refund, and as we’ve seen this occurs quite regularly with absolutely no time limit. After all, the Mint doesn’t give these Big Boys preferential treatment because it’s for the benefit of the Mint to do so; quite the opposite,… Read more »
Had a great reply. Was over an hour in the making. Tried to attach a pic but said I would have to leave page. Now I look and no reply was posted. Maybe later, but whatever. I was just stating why I believed the 3 musk scalp teers were taking risk
In case you were wondering, the attachment was a pic of the sky.
Allow me to oblige, my friend…
That’s happened to me before too, Dazed and Coinfused. What I do now when I want to temporarily leave the page with the thread on it is minimize the page without actually closing it and open another page to look for pictures.
No. I had my comment complete, tried to add a pic from my phone and when I clicked submit it as was I sure I wanted to leave page. So i cancel and tried to copy all my text but it wouldn’t highlight everything. So since I saw no way to remove the pic I just said ok when it said are you sure you wish to leave page. Had fingers crossed, lo and behold, no micro book of knowledge was posted, nor was pic. First and last time I will do that. But once again my pathetic life was… Read more »
Many a time on this site here when I just happen to have written an exceptionally long comment and suddenly for whatever ridiculous reason perhaps for example by somehow managing to hit the wrong key or some such silly and/or foolish mistake like that all of the words in the entire comment accidentally get highlighted at the same time and rather spontaneously so at that and before I can begin to think even remotely fast enough to definitely make sure my very next keystroke will solve the whole strange problem instead of possibly making it even worse sure enough I… Read more »
Sir Kaiser, Bravo! What an outstanding, long sentence!
Well, thank you kindly, Good Sir Rich; much obliged indeed!
